Look forward to seeing you two on Sept 27th! Keep me in the loop if you decide on where to meet smile

Hiya, I emailed Amelia and talked about places to go. What do you think about the outdoor cafes at the TV tower, the Outback or a gaijin bar. Apparently the Hub has outdoor space too.
Any other suggestions?

The TV Tower area sounds good, and it’s close enough to Red Rock that if it rains or something we can run away to shelter.  I guess it depends a little how many of us there are, and if we’re eating, drinking, or what if it’s just lunch, maybe we should go somewhere where they have good food, or a good selection.  Have you been to that new-ish place near the fountain?  It’s a sort of gaijin place with this weird butler statue outside.  They have a lunchtime buffet which can be pretty good.

I’ve never been to Outback, so I don’t know about that.  If the Hub has outdoor space, that could be good too!

I hardly ever go out in the Sakae/Hisa Odori area so I really don’t know much about new places or gaijin bars around there. If the outdoor cafes, etc. are near a bar we can head to it would work out well no matter what the weather or if it’s too packed in central park.
This should be fun!

Yeah, I don’t go out in Sakae much either, but I did the gaijin thing once under the TV Tower and then in Red Rock and it was good fun! smile

Hiya, how was your “silver week”?
We’re almost upon our lunch day. How about meeting at the corner in front of Tokyu Hands at around 12:30? That should be convenient for most people since it is on both the Sakura Dori and Meijo subway lines.

Hiya,
My silver week was pretty uneventful. Didn’t make it to Kyoto. I just hung out, did some sewing, and went to a special yoga class on Wednesday.
My cell number is 080-3873-4033 in case we have trouble finding each other. Also, I’ve got short, dark hair and wear black glasses.
See you then.

Hi you guys,

I’m sorry, but I’m afraid I’ll have to regrettably cancel my trip to meet you both.. I am so tired from the past week that I don’t think I could take another trip this weekend! Hope you guys have fun tomorrow, and I think I will try to meet with you on October 12, if you’re still planning a get-together.

Thanks smile

Oh that’s too bad, Amber!  Next time though for sure!

As for Oct 12th, I think it’s just Caroline’s seminar followed by drinks and dinner now.  No lunch.  Is that right, Wendy?

So, tomorrow, who’s coming?  Just me and Wendy??

Just got my schedule finalised for my Nagoya visit. Please see below for details about four exciting events I’m participating in during October for those living or working in the Nagoya area. Some are open to the public so please do let the relevant organiser know if you’d like to attend. I am really looking forward to meeting the Nagoya broads, aspiring writers and publishers, entrepreneurs, and parents!

Caroline
———————————————————————————-
Mon 12th 6–8pm: seminar on writing and publishing
Tue 13th 6:30pm: broads’ dinner and drinks
Wed 14th morning: Caroline’s visit to Nagoya International School PTA
Wed 14th from 7pm: Caroline’s speech on entrepreneurship to the Nagoya ACCJ Independent Business Committee
———————————————————————————-
Mon 12th 6–8pm: seminar on writing and publishing
———————————————————————————-
Caroline Pover’s popular seminar based on her adventures in writing and publishing books and magazines in Japan will provide information and inspiration to any budding authors, editors, journalists, publishers, or entrepreneurs. She will touch on all areas of publishing both books and magazines, including developing written material, working with illustrators or photographers, contacting publishers, finding a good editor, layout and design considerations, cover design concepts, printers, storage, financing, marketing, and distribution. This seminar will help authors learn how to market their own work and find out about how the secrets of self-published authors can help their book become more successful. Participants should come prepared with lots of questions — there will be plenty of time to ask them and to address issues unique to your own project. The fee is 5,000 yen, and payable before the event. Places are limited so please reserve quickly by emailing .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) stating you prefer to pay by Paypal or bank transfer. Nancy will confirm the location. Read on for some comments from people who have attended Caroline’s publishing seminar before!

” ... not only very interesting and full of very useful and important information but also perfectly well presented in an organized and timely fashion. Caroline’s comments were spot on and she had most of my questions answered by the end of the seminar. I learned a lot and I would definitely recommend this seminar to anyone writing a book.”

“Well structured and insightful presentation. Ms Pover’s enthusiasm is infectious and empowering to all who nurture dreams of penning their own tome”

” ... the seminar gave me a renewed energy for writing.  It started “my wheels turning” and it was REALLY helpful to hear Caroline’s advice ... “

“I am inspired by Caroline’s persistence to penetrate the market while staying true to what is important to her.  It gives me courage to try the same.”

“Caroline’s self-publishing seminar in Tokyo was extremely helpful in itself — all kinds of nuts & bolts advice we could start using right away — but it also included a large dose of entrepreneuring tips. Great value. I would probably go again just to catch anything I missed the first time.”
