BAB Career Seminar Series #3 : Being A Recruiter Broad
BAB Career Seminar Series #3 : Being A Recruiter Broad
Fri 28th Mar 6.30pm
It’s unfortunate that the recruitment industry in Japan tends to have a rather male-oriented image, as there are plenty of foreign women not only working in, but also managing, recruitment services, and having a great time in doing so! For outgoing, ambitious, and motivated foreign women who love working with people, recruiting can be one of the best employment options. It’s even an industry where you don’t need to speak Japanese, and there aren’t that many of those around! Also one of the highest paid positions open to foreigners in Japan, working in recruitment in Japan can be an excellent way to gain financial independence and security. With many Tokyo-based companies having offices throughout the world, working in recruitment in Tokyo could be the start of a new adventure!
If you’re considering becoming a recruiter, or are just a bit curious about the lives of foreign women recruiters, then the third of Being A Broad’s Career Seminar Series is just for you. If you’re already working in the industry and would like to meet other foreign women doing the same, then feel free to come along too! On Friday 28th March, three foreign women will share their experiences of ‘Being A Recruiter Broad’. There will be plenty of time for questions, so you can feel free to ask everything you want to know about being a foreign woman recruiter in Japan.
Our speakers are Honor May (The Ingenium Group), Kerry Clark (Wall Street Associates), and Krystal Grossmith (Michael Page International).
Honor is a Partner at The Ingenium Group, a leading Asia Pacific executive search firm based in Tokyo. She also leads Ingenium’s Consumer Practice of eight Consultants, who cover the areas of advertising, media, entertainment, food & beverage, FMCG and imported brands. Over the past five years Honor has developed her niche within the fashion and lifestyle brand industry, focusing on senior management searches mostly in sales, marketing, merchandising and operations. Prior to coming Japan, Honor worked for several years in the pharmaceutical industry in Medical Sales for Roche Products Pty Limited (Australia). Honor graduated from The University of New South Wales with a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Science from her hometown, Sydney, Australia. You can read more about Honor in this month’s issue of Being A Broad.
Kerry is originally from Edinburgh, Scotland. After graduating from Durham University with a degree in Modern Japanese Studies she spent two fantastic years as a Coordinator for International Relations in the Tottori Prefecture Local Government from 2003 to 2005. The aspect of this job which she enjoyed the most was being able to constantly meet new people and liaise between various parties. In her current job at Wall Street Associates (WSA) she continues to enjoy this every day. WSA has given Kerry the opportunity to translate the skills she gained as a CIR into a business-orientated environment whilst continuing to live and work in Japan. She is constantly being pushed to new limits and realising higher goals. Her current job is highly demanding but equally rewarding. Kerry meets new people every day and has learned a lot about what is important to consider when changing jobs or thinking about your own career progression. Kerry is also a founding member and current Chairperson of the WSA Women’s Association. She looks forward to participating as a panel member at the BAB seminar in order to share her ideas and offer advice.
Krystal Grossmith is a Consultant with Michael Page International Japan. She specializes in helping clients, mostly gaishikei, to source bilingual marketing, communications and sales professionals for their businesses here in Japan. Prior to joining MPI, Krystal worked in a business development role for a management consultancy firm in the US.
