Apologies for the late introduction!

I’ve been a member for a couple of years now but really haven’t had a chance to use this discussion board so much. I’ve been in Japan for almost 3 years this time and I’ve seen foreign friends come and go here, and recently, more often go, and I’m finding it increasingly difficult to find foreign female friends in the Kanagawa area, as I work for an Eikaiwa school and also freelance as an English Teacher and sadly don’t get to work with anyone else. So I would love to meet any of you lovely ladies in the Yokohama or Shonan Area (I live inbetween with my Japanese boyfriend).

Anyway about me, I’m 28 (next month!) and from Buckinghamshire in England and I enjoy Hot Yoga (I go to Lava in Higashi-Totsuka), I love cooking and baking, I have an eclectic taste in Music (e.g. Fleet Foxes, I am Kloot, Elbow, Vampire Weekend, Classical, 80’s music such as Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, Stornoway, The Who, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Jazz, Blues…I could go on), of course I like Movies (who doesn’t), Good red wine (help me find some in Japan!), Going to art galleries, Cafes, and studying Japanese of course.

Anyway, it would be great to hear from any of you.

Thanks,

Jenny

Hi everyone!

My name is Alex! I’m 20 years old and currently studying in Tokyo! I’ve been here in Japan for about a year now, and though I was only here for studying, I really hope to stay longer. I’ve been looking into jobs and everything so that I can stay, because coming here I feel as though I’ve finally found my real home. There’s really something special about Japan, isn’t there? =)

Some things about me:

I’m an identical twin, living out here with my twin sister. I love lots of things, but especially creative things like reading, writing, acting, directing, playing flute and piccolo, and also traveling! And my favorite Japanese artists are AAA (Attack All Around) and Tomo Yanagishita!

Anyway, I’m really happy to meet everyone! Yoroshiku onegaishimasu! m(_ _)m

P.S. Please feel free to add my Twitter @ https://twitter.com/banaili!

Also, if you have a Dreamwidth journal, I’m on there too! ^^

Hello!

Well, I think I did a self-intro here some time ago, but since then I’ve been inactive and a lot of things have changed… So I may as well do a new one!

I’ve been in Miyakonojyo, Miyazaki for almost 7 months now. It’s my second time living in Japan (I was in Osaka 2007-08), but my first time this…rural. I really love it here though! Both my job (am an ALT at *one* elementary school) and the location are fantastic (barring bird flu and volcano eruptions, of course).

I love music (especially rock (visual kei’s the big one for me)), fashion and reading/writing. I also love studying Japanese, and plan to take (and conquer!) JLPT N2 in July this year.

I’m also planning on moving to Tokyo when my contract finishes at the end of March this year. Incredibly nervous about this, but given that it’s in the pursuit of a dream… 仕方がない　＾＾； (The dream being working within music and/or fashion - either through writing, or marketing/business (the latter being my uni major)

So I’m very excited about the changes in my life and hope to be more active in this forum this year! Looking forward to attending my first BAB events as well, since I’ll be a bit…uhh…closer. ^-^;

Maybe I’ll see some of you there!

Ooh, and have a great 3-day weekend!

Hi Everyone,
I’m Christina Bell, and I write the Out of the Comfort Zone column for Being A Broad. I’ve made a resolution to find one way every month in which I can push my own boundaries and learn from new experiences.

While I realize that living abroad is big step in that direction, I believe that we can always do more. I would love to hear from other people. How have you continued to challenge yourself since you’ve been here? Have you surprised yourself by trying things you never thought you would do?
