Below is my comment to the article. Feel free to share your comments/discuss the article/give ideas.

Kristin, I really enjoyed your article. I spent 15 years in Japan, and moved to Berlin after Fukushima. I now plan to travel between Fukushima, Hokkaido and Berlin. Many foreigners bring very bad poor intelligence customs to Japan, and I used to be one of them. I used to like the bad quality food you mention in the article. That food kills the environment. Japanese were healthy vegan originally. Shojin Ryori and macrobiotic foods originated from Japan. Then the “black ships” came to Japan and poisoned it with bad traditions.

If you heart is in Japan, I hope you stop eating garbage which you mention in your article, and learn Japanese healthy traditions, and teach it back to Japanese, who seem to have lost their mind under American, British, NZ, German or whatever influence or brainwash. Those medical drugs you show on photo are also a big concern for me. Start eating healthy. Japan has turned into a land of junk, and you don’t need to become that. But you need to go agaist the main stream as the main stream is ignorant and unhealthy, especially towards children and Nature.

Hope you visit “Being A Broad Discussion Forum” as you might get good ideas from there. If you want to get a job, you have to maintain your health as who wants to hire sick people? I own a company, and I don’t want to nurse sicks. I’d only hire those who can solve problems and who focus on healthy living and caring for others, and who can earn money for the company as well. I am sure it’s the case with many other employers. Unless you want to start your own business, then you are your own boss. But even my staff always told me I have to make health my priority. I am 40, I became vegan about 2 years ago and also stopped all caffeine, junk food and alcohol at the same time. I am healthier and stronger now than before.

You have to learn cooking for that, and take out too much salt and sugar out of Japan’s traditional vegan diet and add more raw food to it to be healthy. And maybe you could write books about how you make changes. I’d certainly love to read your next article, if you want to write about healthy change. Regards from Berlin

I bought film “2012” at Costco but haven’t watched it yet. I haven’t read any books about 2012. I just have a gut feeling that if we’re not going to HEAL THE WORLD, something BAD will happen on Earth around that time, maybe December 2012, maybe in Tokyo, Sapporo, New York- places with BAD buildings, land with agri chemicals, polluted places, etc. But if we heal it together, hopefully it would be OK.

What do you all predict? Will tyry to watch the film tonight or tomorrow. (For those new to Broads, words I put in CAPITALS are MJ words-names of MJ songs, books or albums)

Broads,

Many of us plan events, classes, blog or Facebook entries and sometimes need an interesting theme. Maybe this thread would be of help to some of you. Feel free to post your dates of interest.

Last week was 40th anniversary since Appolo first Moon landing. According to BBC documentary shown on New Zealand TV, Moon landing was fake and it was all just made up story for a film. I believe that documentary. But regardless of what we all believe, 40 years of Appolo might be of interest.

April 15, 2011, is 99 years since Titanic sank. The world is sinking now like Titanic. Will we save it from sinking? So far people just watching it sink.

July 1, 2011 is 50th birthday of Princess Diana. She was against landmines. Landmines still remain in many countries. Japan is currently helping to clean Cambodia from landmines. Landmines still remain on NZ Desert Rd, army signs there warn not to step out of the car in case of explosions. I hope they are cleaned away by July 1, 2011. But I don’t know who to ask. Ideas welcome.

Please share your dates and thoughts. Thank you. If you plan events based on the dates I mentioned, drop me a line as I might like to attend.

Kia Ora/ Hello everyone,

We got some good ideas last night at TK6 Sapporo about how to help
Christchurch and New Zealand. There are still over 200 people
missing, many of them are Japanese. Japan Self-Defence force arrived
in NZ yesterday (80 staff), so I am sure they will do their best. My
first ever Japanese teacher artist Koji Miyazaki owns FORM art
gallery which was right in the square, facing the destroyed
church. I have not been able to get in touch with Koji, but looks
like he might be OK apart from many art works that artists
lost. http://www.form.co.nz/

Christchurch economy is very dependent on Japan, and NZ economy is
dependent on Christchurch. NZ is a small country with population of
4.4mln people (Hokkaido is 5.6mln), so one major city with such scale
of destruction can destroy the whole country’s economy if not taken
care of properly.

I am sure NZ government will do their best, but we need to help them
with ideas. They are focused on saving lives and cleaning, but we in
Japan can help with better future ideas.

I hope to see more creative and caring people at TK6 Sapporo (Tanuki Koji arcade 6-chome), 7-8pm daily
this week till Sunday, February 27th, 2011. If you have any art work that
you would like to broadcast to New Zealand and the world to help
Christchurch, please bring it along. Journalism/reporting/film
making is one of the many things I do. We need more people helping
each other to solve our problems.

It is a chance for Japan to shine and do something really good for NZ
and the world. We are all part of Japan and one world.
BBC News about latest numbers of missing people
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-12563177

Here is a good song “Jidai” by Nakajima Miyuki with English subtitles
for all of you who feel pain for your
friends/relatives/students/artists in New Zealand.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uH56bPlKplQ (4mins 34sec)

Japan is yet to receive it’s big shock when they confirm the total
number of Japanese dead in the earthquake. Mostly young Japanese
people. It is a tragedy for many countries, and many countries will
hopefully help.

Hopefully see you at TK6, regardless of which country you come
from. If you can’t make it, please send an email with ideas. Don’t
send me condolences-only practical ideas please, and art is welcome
too-you can even post your art to my Facebook wall without any
permissions. Thank you.
Kia Kaha Aotearoa-E Ihoa Aotearoa (E ihoa is NZ national anthem which
translates from Maori as “Gods, Save NZ”

I am a New Zealand citizen, in case anyone wonders why I write about
NZ. Thank you all for passing the word around and thinking up ideas.

MUSE performing Friday night, Jul 29, 9pm+. All accomodation booked out according to Fuji Rock website. Looks like the venue is in the middle of nowhere-like a camping site.

I travelled from Hokkaido to THRILL THE WORLD event in Tokyo (Odaiba venue). Below is the video I took of the main dance. Not the best quality as I was in a bad place plus was crying from emotions- it just looked amazing, children did so well.

http://www.youtube.com/user/NataliaRoschinaJapan?feature=mhum#p/a/u/0/oWtgr-SOj9Q

They also had such events at Yoyogi Park Tokyo, Sapporo and perhaps other parts of Japan. THRILL THE WORLD event started 5years ago in Canada, by a group of 60 people. In 2009 over 20,000 people simultaneously danced THRILLER all over the world at that event. 2010 is the first time Japan started participating. It was truly amazing. Share you stories here about THRILL THE WORLD or THRILLER, etc.

Tokyo Yoyogi Park group were very kind to me and inspired my trip to Tokyo for that. Unfortunately I couldn’t attend both venues as they danced at the same time.

Do you know about Jusanya? It’s the night of Tsukimi or moon viewing. People celebrate on the 13th night of the old calendar in Japan, which happened to fall on October 20th this year. This is the celebration of the not quite full moon, the imperfect moon. The local shrine had their festival drummers perform in the evening.

Saturday night was the peak of the autumn full moon. In western tradition, the Hunter’s or Blood Moon is the full moon closest to the Autumn equinox.

Avi Landau on Tsukublog explains the Jusanya tradition - http://blog.alientimes.org/ Read down the page. He’s got lots of photos and information about autumnal fruits, flowers and grains.

Late October is my favorite time of year, with the last harvest and Halloween/Samhain coming up. Happy harvest, everyone!
