Hello. :3
I’m Fara, and I’m a college freshman from the U.S. I love-love-love Japan and everything about it! I first got interested in it after watching Sailor Moon when I was little. I’m going to double-major in Japanese Language & Literature and Software Engineering. I’ve been to Japan once. I went on a tour there the summer before my senior year of high school. I visited major places like Tokyo and Osaka, but I got to explore the country on my own while I was there (Harajuku! We shall meet again). After I came back, I realized that the trip confirmed the reasons why I like Japan so much. I would love to get a job and move there after I graduate. :D
So, how are you guys? When did you decide to go to Japan? ^^

Hey Fara,

That’s great that you’re thinking of heading over here - it’s such a brilliantly unique country!! When you arrive, head over to some of our events, it’s a great chance to meet new people!

Hi Fara, what an amazing set of majors! Japan is such a cool place and I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else right now. I’ve been here 9 years and live in Nagoya. Like you, I traveled on my own around the country before coming here to live. It really gave me an idea of that the country is like and I fell in love immediately.
Good luck studying and if you ever make it to Nagoya, look me up.

Hi Ferrari,

If you are a freshman in a college, is there any exchange program you can attend and come to Japan for study abroad for one year or something? It will be nice if you have a chance to experience living in Japan before actually come here and work.

Good luck.

hope to see you someday in Japan.

O

@WendyGough, haha, thanks! I feel like I know what to do now in college. & wow, 9 years, that’s awesome. Did you come after graduating, or earlier? I’ll definitely do that if I go to Nagoya :3

@ Oprah: I’ll definitely come!! :D My school has one, so I’m going to go study abroad for my third year in college. :D

btw, I never took Japanese before, so I’m taking it for the first time this year ^^; I met the professors and they seem really nice! They even recommended some j-dramas for the students to watch! lol

Hello Fara,

I write lyrics and poems in Japanese. Or better to say MUSE writes them as I’m just a “medium” for receiving and passing on. “Medium” was the word used by MJ for explaining where his songs & dance come from.  If you’re interested, I’ll share them for your professors.  Japanese in my lyrics is perfect-better than my normal spoken Japanese I think.  Also quite simple Japanese-but MUSE words stab like SLAUGHTERHOUSE maybe you mentioned.

Here is a little part from my HINOMARU lyrics (full HINOMARU is several pages A4 size long)
Music EARTH SONG + MAN IN THE MIRROR +THEY DON’T CARE ABOUT US by MJ

人と動物の共生
地球の法律である
現状は動物=人の奴隷
世の中 間違っている

HITO TO DOUBUTSU NO KYOUSEI
CHIKYUU NO HORITSU DE ARU
GENJOU WA DOUBUTSU=HITO NO DOREI
YONONAKA MACHIGATTEIRU

(do you want to have a go at translating for your study? maybe professors could check your accuracy-don’t tell them it’s from a gaijin -you can tell them that Miyazawa Kenji was vegetarian -there is a book called “Miyazawa Kenji Vegetarian” -he’s famous Japanese writer).  Many like to focus on messenger- not message.  Many love shooting the messenger.  DON’T SHOOT THE MESSENGER

Regards

^ ooh, that’s cool that you write Japanese poetry, Natalia-san! :D
I’ll see. School starts next month for me. For a quicker response, may I suggest http://friends.jlist.com/ ? You get to instantly chat with Japanese users, while they use the site to improve their English skills. :3
