Being a Western woman in Japan can be a fabulous position to be in! However, we still have questions or need support, information, and guidance during our lives here. There are many differences between being a Western woman in Japan and being a Western man in Japan.
Women’s organisations may not have been something you considered in your home country, but I can’t stress enough how women’s organisations can help to fulfil your life in Japan. They have helped me tremendously. Through them I have been welcomed into new social circles, made professional contacts, discussed the challenges of living in Japan with women who have gone through the same things, and received excellent advice on just about everything I can imagine. Most importantly, I have made good friends.
